Iโm so happy to share my latest crochet pattern with you, the Floral Fantasy Bouquet! This pattern includes instructions for five types of flowers and seven different leaves, plus some size variations so you can mix things up. Iโve also added tips for putting your bouquet together or turning it into a wreath. The flowers are cheerful and a little bit whimsical. I also teamed up with Scheepjes to put together a SoftFun Yarn Color Pack with all the yarn youโll need to make the bouquet in the colors I used. Of course, you can also use your own colors if you want to go your own way.
This bouquet is wired so you will also need some floral wires to make the bouquet. I have a list of materials with links a little further down Here.

Other Materials
You will need basic crochet supplies
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- scissors or something to cut yarn
- tapestry needle for weaving in ends and optional embroidery
You will also need some floral wires and floral tape. The wires are used as stems as well as within the petals and leaves to provide structure and make them posable.
Here is a list of what I used with links**
Bouquet:
- 132 Light Gauge Floral Wires, 26-Gauge 14in Brown (get 2)
- Brown Floral Tape
- 35 Heavy Gauge Floral Wires for Stems, 16-Gauge 16in
- Wire Cutters (optional but makes trimming stem wires easier)
- Ribbon (optional, helpful for arranging or for Handheld bouquet)
Wreath:
- 132 Light Gauge Floral Wires, 26-Gauge 14in Brown (get 2 packs)
- Brown Floral Tape
- 14in Metal Wire Wreath Form
- Ribbon (I used this to cover any exposed bits of the wreath frame)

Key Features of the “light” Floral Wires
The type of “light” floral wire you use for this bouquet can make a big difference in how easy they are to work with and how your bouquet turns out. Here are a few key things to keep in mind when choosing your wires.
- Gauge: bigger number equals smaller wires, anything heavier than 22-26 gauge will start to be hard to manipulate.
- Length: Precut lengths minimize the need for a wire cutter and start nice and straight, look for 14in (35cm) or longer.
- Color: Brown wires are less noticeable between stitches with this color pack.
- Texture: Paper wrapped wires are less slippery and stay in place better.
Inspiration and Work in Design Progression
I started designing this pattern on the way home from visiting the Scheepjes Offices in the Netherlands. I drew a very rough sketch on the airplane home. I took more inspiration for these flowers from paintings of flowers then actual flowers. In particular Charleston Glory by Suzanne Allard caught my eye. I also wanted the leaves to be an interesting feature of the bouquet. I like leaves a lot.
[below: first rough drawing of idea and my first 2 crochet sample bits]

The giant pink flower was the first one I fully wrote up. I wanted a big flower but needed to make sure it could be made with the color pack. I spend a lot of time figuring trying out different color combinations for various flowers and leaves and testing different ideas.
[below: early samples testing colors and patterns and the nearly completed bouquet]

How this design comes together
Most of the flower petals and leaves are made individually then put together on the larger stems.

Here are the three larger flower designs in the bouquet with their individual components.

The wires in the flowers and leaves make them easy to arrange and rearrange in different ways. Below are my arrangements for a tall vase, handheld bouquet, wreath, wider bouquet, and an asymmetrical arrangement.

Fantasize your own Flowers
I would like to encourage you to use your own creativity to make up other flowers and combinations with the components in the pattern. You can use the leaves for petals or petals for leaves. Change the number petals on a flower, switch up the centers, mix up the colors, etc.
Here are a few examples for fun.

Happy Crafting!
