Little Clover [free pattern]

Friday afternoon I was thinking about St. Patrick’s Day and my grandpa (I called him Papa), and I was struck with a sudden whim to design a little crocheted four-leaf clover or shamrock for St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday. I got out all my green yarns and thread and came up with my design, wrote it down and asked a few testers to try it out. Normally I take weeks, months, or even years on a design so this is by far the quickest that I have gone from idea to pattern, it is however a very simple pattern with only 2 rounds.

Materials

For this pattern you will just need a little bit of yarn of your choice and an appropriately sized hook. I have used:

606 Grass Green – Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat (100% Mercerised Cotton; 25g/140m with a 1.5mm hook

015 Grassland – Scheepjes Catona Chroma (100% Mercerised Cotton; 50g/125m) with a 3mm hook

2014 Emerald or 1826 Shamrock (I am not sure I don’t have the label anymore) – Scheepjes Chunky Monkey (100% Premium Acrylic (Anti Pilling); 100g/116m) with a 5mm hook

325 Baklava – Scheepjes Scrumptious (50% Recycled Polyester (recycled plastic bottles) x 50% Acrylic) with a 3.5mm hook

Gauge and Measurements

Tension is not critical for this project, but the size of your clover will depend on your yarn, hook, and tension.

My Sweet Treats little clover is about 1.5in (4cm), Catona Chroma about 3in (7.5cm), and Chunky Monkey about 5in (12.5cm).
